Samoa

To quote the Lonely Planet guide book, "Samoa is the last place on earth to see the sun set."  It's just east of the International Dateline, so in our pursuit of yet another tropical paradise, we arrived in Samoa before we left Tonga.  Neat trick, eh?

As well as lovely lush vegetation, an abundance of tropical flowers, spectacular coral reefs, long sandy beaches and fantastic sunsets, Samoa is home to people who really do have 'heavier bones' than the average person.  It's a scientific fact and not just an excuse for anyone with excess pounds or kilos.   It is also a fact that Samoans have the longest thigh bones of any group.  Judging from some of the tall men I have seen here, I'd back up the scientists on this one.  One energetic male dancer appeared to have thighs longer than my whole leg!  OK... so I exaggerated a wee bit, but he did have long, long legs and thighs.
