It took a lot of hard yakka ('work' in Strine... Australian) but we managed to sort
through all the "stuff" we had accumulated over almost 9 years. Doug
claims it was all mine except for 2 boxes. Guess that's why he let me
do most of the packing. After two garage sales, a total of 48 boxes
were stuffed and taped with a little help from our friends and shipped back
to Canada. Doug put in hours of computer time getting hardware and
software in order, closing accounts, and generally getting things together
for our departure.
In the meantime, the new owners said we could stay in the
house until departure, and we've been tidying up loose ends, buying camera
equipment and luggage, and trying to see as many friends as we can. On
one great occasion we thought we were meeting five friends for a picnic in the
park. It turned into a grand surprise "celebration of our new
adventures" with almost all of our good friends able to make it. It
was a fantastic afternoon with good food, good friends and that fine
Brisbane weather. This was quickly followed by a wonderful
couple of days with Cath and Jim in Bunya National Park, and a grand photo
shoot with some of my good friends form the Queensland Camera Group.
Thanks everyone. We will miss you.
